With this paper, I was trying to get my point across regarding the writing contruct of grammar in the most personable, yet intelligent way possible. I wanted to put a personality to the paper, but at the same time, stay on the point. My main point was that grammar is too highly regarded when deciding if something is "well written". I supported my claim but first, a use of a personal anecdote, then using examples from our Writing About Writing book, along with brief historical examples. To oppose the other side of my argument, I used an article from The Cornell Daily Sun. I think my introduction/hook and close are working well. However, I am a little unsure about the middle. I would like to go more in depth with my historical examples, if I were to need to add length to my paper. In their responses, I would like my classmates to give me feedback regarding where they thought the paper wasn't so well supported, or if any of my points/claims seem off balance, or misplaced. Also, if they think I should head farther in one of the directions I started in, I'd like to know this too. I would have given my prep work more time, honestly. I would have liked to get more research done, and some more supporting facts perhaps about statistics on how much grade school teachers stress grammar, and why. I debated emailing my old teachers, just to see what input they may have. I didn't know if I should add more support to what's wrong with the current teachings of grammar, or focus more on how it is used today by professional writers- I really don't know. This is another thing that I'd like more of an opinion on.

  1. Summary: I thought this paper was trying to explain that grammar and punctuation are actually not very important. Students were taught since we started writing papers that your grammar is the most important construct for your writing piece, when in reality the grammar just helps put emphasis into the paper.

Peer Review: I thought you put this paper together very nicely. You covered all the aspects that were needed for this paper. The flow to this paper worked all the way to the end, and never got off balance. I enjoyed reading this paper and would like to possibly read more in the future. Here is the link to the peer review:
